'VICTIMS COMPENSATION LEVY' FOR VICTIMLESS CRIME

THEY CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!!!!!!

------------------------------------------------

Dear Mr Attorney-General,

$$$ This levy is nothing more than an arbitrary tax

$$$ No way am I paying one on a bicycle helmet matter

$$$ Shouldn't the offence involve a 'victim'?

$$$ This ridiculousness is going too far!!!

$$$ 'Justice' continues her Australian retreat into the ether

Yours in utter frustration,
Freedom Cyclist

  2. This is another example of what happens when rules are blindly followed and humans don't use their brains... It's like something from HGTTG!

    Don't Panic!

  3. There may not have been a human involved. The levy may have been produced automatically by a computer.
It also illustrates that part of what we are fighting is easy revenue raising by Government.

  10. Good luck Sue. Meanwhile the spectre of compulsory helmets returns to the UK with a second reading of the helmets for children bill. If this goes through, grown ups will doubtless be next.

  13. The local newspapers are generally filled with reports about cases being
contested by representatives from various compensation law firms so much so
that any tourist scanning over the city newspaper supplements is bound to be
a bit surprised by the prominent face of these law firms.
